Kaboom Connects Fire Department and Home Depot for Playground Project
Full Description:
North Las Vegas, Nevada firefighters will rebuild the playground at Joe Kneip Park, 2127 McCarran St., on Thursday, March 22. The event, dubbed a “Community Build Day,” will be modeled after an old-fashioned barn raising, where volunteers will participate in erecting the playground.
The North Las Vegas Firefighters Local 1607 is partnering with Home Depot for the project. The firefighters connected with Home Depot after submitting a grant application to KaBoom for the project. KaBoom is a national nonprofit organization whose vision and mission include creating a play space within walking distance of every child in America. Home Depot is a founding member of the organization.
The City’s Adopt-A-Playground Committee is organizing the event. The committee aims to promote healthy lifestyles and to provide safe and accessible play spaces. The committee – including members of the North Las Vegas Firefighters 1607, North Las Vegas Fire Department, North Las Vegas Parks and Recreation and a Home Depot representative –designates which North Las Vegas parks are most in need of refurbishing. The committee also raises funds and engages community partnerships to accomplish its mission.
