The Clark County School District Board of School Trustees
voted Thursday, January 26, to offer the position of Superintendent of Schools to Dr.
Walt Rulffes. The vote was 7-0 to offer a contract ending in August of 2007.
Board President Ruth Johnson said, “This Board has shown its unanimous support
for Dr. Rulffes as a strong educational leader. Our students and community will be well
served by his experience and expertise.”
Rulffes, who has served as CCSD’s interim superintendent since the summer of
2005, has more than 30 years’ experience in education. This includes serving as
superintendent of the Cheney School District in Washington.
